Man, 45, Dies In Motorcycle Crash: Police

A 45-year-old Burke man died after his motorcycle collided with a turning vehicle Friday night, police said.

FAIRAX COUNTY, MA — A 45-year-old Burke man died after a motorcycle crash Friday night in West Springfield, according to Fairfax County police.

Detectives with the department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash, which happened around 9:10 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Braddock Road and Southampton Drive near Annandale.

Police said Russell Edwards, 45, of Burke, was riding a 2025 KTM SMCR 390 motorcycle east on Braddock Road when he struck a 2015 Toyota Corolla, which was turning left onto Southampton Drive. Edwards was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured and remained at the scene, police said. Speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors in the crash.
