Man, 52, Dies Following Fire In Condo In Fox Lake
Fox Lake firefighters rescued the resident from the blaze, but the man later died at the hospital.
FOX LAKE, IL — A 52‑year‑old Fox Lake man died after firefighters rescued him from a condominium fire early Monday morning in the 0 to 100 block of St. Thomas Colony Street.
Fire crews responded to the blaze at about 7 a.m. and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the man's corner unit and pulled him out before extinguishing the blaze, according to the Daily Herald.
He was taken to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry where he later died. Fire officials said the fire, which was largely knocked down within about 10 minutes, also damaged the building’s electrical equipment, temporarily leaving all six units uninhabitable, according to the news report.

Power was restored later in the day, allowing residents back into five units while the unit where the fire started remains uninhabitable.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
