Man, 57, Dies After Bicycle Collides With Motorized Bike In McHenry

The man was riding a non-motorized bike at the time of the collision. He has been identified as Daren Konecny Sr. of McHenry.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 57-year-old McHenry man died days after his bicycle collided with a motorized bike in the area of Route 31 and Medical Center Drive in McHenry, authorities said Tuesday.

The collision happened at about 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 27. The rider of a non-motorized bike, Daren Konecny Sr. of McHenry, was very critically injured and airlifted to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry following the collision.

He later died on Oct. 29, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office. Results from an autopsy shows he died from blunt force injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
