Man Arrested for Stealing $3,300 Worth of Cigarettes: Police
Sanaullah Mir is accused of stealing the cigarettes from the Jewel-Osco in Woodstock, police said.

WOODSTOCK, IL - A 38-year-old Addison man has been charged with retail theft for stealing about $3,300 worth of cigarettes from the Jewel-Osco store in Woodstock during three different instances in January, February and March, police said. Sanaullah Mir, of 638 Katherine Lane in Addison, has been charged with three counts of felony retail theft and is being held on a $60,000 bond. He is also accused of similar crimes in different towns, John L. Lieb, chief of police for the Woodstock Police Department, said in a news release.
A warrant was issued for Mir's arrest on Thursday following an investigation by the Woodstock Police Department. Police said Mir was caught on video surveillance stealing a large amount of cigarettes from the Jewel-Osco at 145 S. Eastwood Drive on Jan. 17, Feb. 10 and March 10, Lieb said.
"It was learned through the cooperation of several area agencies that the suspect had been committing similar thefts at Jewel-Osco stores throughout the area," Lieb said.

Mir is currently being held at the Kane County Jail on criminal charges filed by other jurisdictions. Mir faces several charges of felony retail theft in Kane County, according to online court records.
