The victim suffered serious injuries. Brandon Motter will be placed in a state mental health facility, according to reports.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 30-year-old McHenry man was found not guilty by reason of insanity Thursday for stabbing a relative in the face and head, causing serious injuries that required multiple stitches.
Brandon Motter faced multiple aggravated domestic battery charges and a first-degree attempted murder count in connection with the December 2023 attack. The court reached the verdict after the defense and prosecution agreed on evidence and presented it without witness testimony at a bench trial, according to Shaw Local.
Following the ruling, Motter was taken into custody by the Illinois Department of Human Services and will be housed in a mental health facility.
