Man Gets 15 Years In Prison For Sexually Abusing Family Member

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A Chicago man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a family member in McHenry County.

David W. Flynn was found guilty of three counts of sexual relations within families and has been ordered to register for life as a sex offender, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

On January 9, 2022, authorities became aware of Flynn's ongoing abuse of a 19-year-old female family member. When Flynn learned that others knew about the abuse he threatened to kill himself while holding a knife to his own throat, according to prosecutors.

He admitted to the sexual relationship to other people, and police obtained text messages that included incriminating statements.
