Man Gets Lengthy Prison Sentence for Sexually Assaulting Young Girls

Robert Maron was sentenced to 32 years in McHenry County last week.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL - A 48-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting young girls in Cary was sentenced last week to 32 years in prison.

Robert Maron will serve the sentence, which was handed down Friday in McHenry County, consecutively to a six-year prison term recently imposed in Cook County for the criminal sexual assault of another victim. Maron was sentenced in McHenry County on two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated sexual abuse.

An investigation was launched in 2013 by the Cary Police Department who found Maron sexually assaulted two young girls under the age of 10 in the 1990s, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office. After Maron was charged in 2013, a third woman contacted police and reported she was also sexually assaulted by Maron as a young child in the 1990’s.
