Man Sentenced to Prison for Ninth DUI

The Wisconsin man was pulled over in McHenry County for his ninth DUI offense. He has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

SPRING GROVE, IL - A 54-year-old Wisconsin man who has been convicted of nine DUIs has been sentenced to eight years in prison following his must recent drunken driving offense in McHenry County, prosecutors said.

Michael Tatera, 54, of West Allis, Wis., was convicted in January on a DUI charge following a two-day jury trial, according to a McHenry County State's Attorney's Office press release. Spring Grove police observed him driving around barricades and through a closed road in downtown Spring Grove and pulled him over.

He was evaluated for DUI and was arrested after showing signs of impairment, police said.

Tatera had been convicted of eight prior DUI offenses in Wisconsin.

This case was investigated by the Spring Grove Department.
