Marine Police Free Goose Stuck In Fishing Line: Authorities

Deputies with the McHenry County Sheriff's Office came to the rescue of a goose they found in the Chain o' Lakes Friday.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL β€” Deputies with the McHenry County Sheriff's Office's marine unit came to the rescue of a goose who became tangled in fish line in recent days in the Chain o' Lakes.

The deputies were able to cut the fishing line and dispose of it before the goose was transported to a wildlife rehabilitation facility for additional care.

"He was definitely excited to be home free," sheriff's office officials said in a Friday Facebook post, where they also shared a video of his release.

Following the incident, authorities in McHenry County are reminding residents to be sure not to leave garbage behind in area waterways, including the Chain o' Lakes, since "even something as little as fishing line can endanger the lives of animals and damage property."
