“Marrying a teacher to save money” was never on my list when I was preparing to ask my wife to marry me. However, two years into our marriage, we accidentally found out that, as my wife was a teacher, we were able to save money on various things. During the summer, it was always nice to flash her school ID and get into the Botanical gardens for free. The big surprise came when we accidentally found out that we could save money on our cell phone bill. Sarah had had her cell phone plan before we were married and no-one had told her anything then. When we came to add me on to her plan and upgrade, no mention then either. Somewhere along the line, one of the phone company representatives asked her what she did for a career and she mentioned how she was a teacher. Right there and then, they applied an 18% discount to our bill. This wasn’t even in a “thank you for your service” type of gesture, it was something that was already known. But this was just the start. When we did some searching, we found that there were so many discounts for teachers! Now we save money all the time. Happy saving!
