men's basketball began play Saturday afternoon at the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Tip-Off Classic at Elgin Community College's Spartan Center.
The Scots fell behind early and again to start the second half but rallied for a 70-62 victory.
Mershon Wilkes scored 23 points to lead MCC (7-8, 1-0) off the bench while Eric Wilde had 14 and Jermarkus Lovett added 12 points. DeShawn Wash scored 10 for the fourth double-digit scorer for MCC.

With MCC trailing 38-29 early in the second half, MCC went on a 13-4 run to tie the game and would go on to take the lead and capture the victory.
MCC will play Moraine Valley Community College 7:15 p.m. Tuesday back in in ISCC play.
