MCCD Names New Chief of Police
Laura King has worked for the McHenry Co. State's Attorney's Office and McHenry P.D.

From MCCD: McHenry County Conservation District Board of Trustees and staff welcome Laura King of Johnsburg as the District’s new Chief of Police. King began in her role in January and brings extensive local, state and national experience, as well as being an outdoor enthusiast. She previously worked for theMcHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and prior to that spent her career with the McHenry Police Department for 20 years ending her time as Commander. “Her knowledge and law enforcement skills, experience and understanding of current law enforcement trends, combined with her vision for the future of law enforcement make her a tremendous assist to the Conservation District team,” stated Executive Director Elizabeth Kessler. King joins McHenry County Conservation District upon the retirement of Chief Jeff Diedrick who served in the position for 15 years. She is the third Chief of Police since the Department was established in 1986. McHenry County Conservation District police patrol the District’s 25,500 acres spread out throughout the county.
The Department’s primary goal is to make a difference in the lives of people who enjoy spending time outdoors, by providing a safe environment and by enriching the communities they serve. The highly successfully and effective measures that have been put into place by the McHenry County Police Department have provided positive outdoor experiences to the nearly one million annual visitors.
