McHenry Co. Lowers Speed Limits On 2 Roads, Rejects Reductions On 3 Others
Lincoln Road near Lakemoor and Hickory Nut Grove Road near Cary will see speed limit reductions.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Board voted to lower the speed limit on two rural roads — Lincoln Road near Lakemoor and Hickory Nut Grove Road near Cary — trimming them from 45 mph to 40 mph to address safety concerns raised by neighbors and engineers.
However, three other proposed reductions on Chapel Hill Road in Johnsburg, Mason Hill Road in Bull Valley, and South Union Road near Huntley were rejected by both the transportation committee and the full board, leaving those limits unchanged, according to Shaw Local News Network.
The mixed decisions reflect ongoing debates among board members about where slower speeds are justified and where current limits should remain.
