McHenry Co. Sheriff's Office Wins Traffic Safety Challenge

The sheriff's office was recognized at the annual Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge Awards Ceremony last week.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was awarded first place in the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police's Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge. The sheriff's office was recognized at the annual Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge Awards Ceremony in Tinley Park on Aug. 14 and received the top prize in the Sheriff 101 to 250 sworn category, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge is designed to challenge police departments to address traffic safety concerns in their jurisdictions in unique ways. Departments are judged in the following categories: policy, training, recognitions, public education, enforcement, and effectiveness.

After reviewing the department’s accomplishments, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police recognized the law enforcement agencies in the state that were able to demonstrate exemplary traffic safety and enforcement programs, according to a news release.
