McHenry Co. Sheriff Seeks Info On Elf Causing 'Christmas Chaos'

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Let your children know the McHenry County Sheriff's Office is looking for an elf, known only as Buddy, who has been causing "Christmas chaos" across McHenry County. They might notice him pretty quickly or even have a similar-looking elf causing chaos in their own houses.

On Tuesday, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office shared a post on Facebook regarding the elf, known only as buddy, who has been breaking into homes and then unplugging Christmas lights, ripping open presents, breaking ornaments and eating candy and cookies.

They also shared photos of the perpetrator as they hope to catch Buddy, who "is racking up a slew of charges," according to the Facebook post. The elf is described as being about 10 inches tall and weighs less than a pound and drives a black sleigh and wears a red outfit with a red pointy hat. Authorities say he is breaking into the ones under the guide of being "Santa Claus."

"Don't let his size fool you. He is a crazed criminal, looking to destroy anything in his path," according to the sheriff's office.

Photos captured were taken form security cameras at homes where "Buddy" broke into.

Any sightings of Buddy should be reported to the sheriff's office by commentingon the sheriff's office Facebook post.

"Please help us stop this criminal and keep Christmas safe in McHenry County," according to the Facebook post.
