Much-Anticipated McHenry Indoor Theater Opens
Two screening rooms will open to the public Wednesday evening with a third room slated to open soon.

MCHENRY, IL – The much-anticipated McHenry Downtown Indoor Theater will be open this weekend. The inaugural weekend will include showings of Paddington nd Star Wars: The Last Jedi and a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at noon on Thursday at the theater, which is located at 1208 N. Green St.
The downtown McHenry building underwent $1.5 million in upgrades and includes two screening rooms, which have capacities of 175 and 155 seats and recliners and rockers to prep for its opening, according to the Northwest Herald.
“I know everybody’s really excited to be one of the first in there,” owner Scott Dehn told the Northwest Herald in a recent interview. "I think actually seeing a movie is secondary to people interested in getting in there and seeing the new construction.”

That smaller screening room will have recliners, rockers, couches and tables for people to order food during their movie. The food will be provided by D.C. Cobb, the Crystal Lake restaurant which plans to open a second location in the building, Dehn told the Northwest Herald. Alcohol also may be served in the future but is not an option right now, Dehn said.
The new theater will continue showings of Paddington 2 and Star Wars: The Last Jedi over the next week. Ticket prices are $9 for adults, $7 for children and $7 for seniors who are 60 years or older. Matinees (before 5:30 p.m.) are $7. Tickets can be purchased online.
