McHenry Home Uninhabitable Following Blaze
The fire broke out Monday night at a home in the 4200 block of Ponca Street.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A home in McHenry has been deemed uninhabitable following a fire Monday night.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was called to the blaze in the 4200 block of Ponca Street in McHenry at about 11:50 p.m. Firefighters were able to quickly get the fire at the single-family ranch home under control, according to a news release from the fire protection district.
No one was injured in the fire, and the only person inside at the time of the blaze was able to get out safely without being injured.

The house sustained major fire and smoke damage and is uninhabitable at this time. A Nissan inside the garage was also damaged, and fire damage extended slightly to the house next door.
An exact damage estimate is not available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
