Finding Dory is hitting the theaters this Friday and the McHenry Outdoor Theater is expecting to sell out for its weekend showings.
“As all of us are aware, Finding Dory is possibly the most anticipated movie of the summer. Therefore, we are expecting very large crowds during its run here,” McHenry Outdoor Theater owner, Scott Dehn, wrote on the theater’s Facebook page.

Dehn provided the following tips to those planning to stop out to the McHenry Outdoor Theater, located at 1510 Chapel Hill Road in McHenry, this weekend:
- With the beautiful weather forecast for this opening weekend, we WILL sell out and I expect that we will sell out earlier in the evening. I highly recommend arriving early. Our Box Office typically opens at 6:30 PM, but I am anticipating it opening much earlier in order to keep vehicles off of Chapel Hill Rd and causing traffic backups. FINDING DORY should begin just after 9:00 PM, but I wouldn't be surprised if we hit our capacity by 8:30 PM or earlier. Hopefully, this will give you an idea of when you should start heading out this way.
- FINDING DORY is booked for three weeks at the outdoor theater. During that time, it will always play first. If you don't want to fight through a large and busy crowd opening weekend, I have insured that you have the option of catching it for two more weekends after it opens.
- Also, if you would prefer to watch FINDING DORY without the hassle of large crowds and long lines, I would suggest coming out on a Sunday or any weekday. They are FAR less crowded than a Friday or Saturday, let alone opening weekend.
- I know there will be many excited children present during FINDING DORY and it can be difficult for them to wait in the long restroom lines inside our concession stand. Therefore, I will have deluxe, clean portable restrooms lined up on the north side of the concession stand available for women and children only. There will also be a handwashing station adjacent to the restrooms. There will still be lines, but hopefully this helps out some for the parents out there.
