McHenry Woman Accused Of Stealing From Softball League

MCHENRY, IL — A 37-year-old McHenry woman faces a theft charge for allegations she stole from the McHenry Pigtail League.

Natalie G. Phelps, of the 400 block of North Kent Road in McHenry, was taken into custody on Monday after board members of the McHenry Pigtail League learned of a large amount of money missing from the non-profit organization's bank accounts.

Phelps, who was the league's president at the time, is accused of withdrawing about $16,000 from the league's accounts for her personal use, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department. Phelps has been charged with theft over $10,000, which is a Class 2 felony.

The non-profit organization is made up of recreational softball teams, tournament teams and travel teams.
