Meet the 10 New Administrators Joining District 47 This School Year

Find out which new leaders will be joining the district in the 2016-17 school year.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - There will be a few new faces joining the ranks as administrators for Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 in the 2016-17 school year.

Here is a look at who has been hired as school and district leaders for the upcoming school year:

Rebecca Adams - Assistant Principal, South Elementary

Rebecca Adams has been in education for 13 years, with most of that tenure spent at an elementary school in Woodstock where she taught various grade levels, from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Mrs. Adams did her undergraduate work at Valparaiso University and holds a master's degree from both Indiana Wesleyan University and Aurora University.


Erin Anderson - Director of Literacy for District 47

Mrs. Anderson served as a Professional Development Specialist for Literacy in the Harlem school district and has more than 12 years of experience in the field of education teaching language arts at various grade levels - first, second, sixth and eighth. Mrs. Anderson was raised in Rockford, Illinois, and holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree in administration from Aurora University. She recently completed her second master's degree in reading from Concordia University.


Matt Decker - Assistant Principal, Lundahl Middle School

For the past four years, Matt Decker has served as the Dean of Students at McHenry East High School. Previously, he taught history and geography at North Cook Young Adult Academy, an alternative high school and middle school in Des Plaines, and was the team lead for their PBIS program. In his last two years at North Cook he served as an assistant site director and teacher. Mr. Decker holds a bachelor’s degree from North Central College and a master’s degree from Roosevelt University.


Penny Fleming - Director of Transportation, Transportation Joint Agreement (TJA)

Penny Fleming started with TJA in 1993 as a bus driver and has also served as a trainer, safety manager and assistant director. In April 2015, she received her Certified Director of Pupil Transportation Certification from the National Association for Pupil Transportation. Mrs. Fleming is currently the northern director for the Illinois Association for Pupil Transportation and president of the McHenry County Transportation Directors Association.



Mark Herron - Custodial Manager

A veteran of the public educational system, Mr. Herron served Community Consolidated School District 15 in Palatine for the past 25 years. He started as a night custodian, was promoted to internal services and was head custodian for 23 years.


Scott Kubelka - Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning

Mr. Kubelka has served as District 155’s Director of Curriculum and Assessment since 2005. Prior to that, he was an elementary principal and teacher for DeKalb District 428. Kubelka holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational administration from Northern Illinois University.

Kelly Maher - Director of Math and Science

For the past seven years, Ms. Maher has worked with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) for the initiatives of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) providing integrated technical assistance to school districts for the purpose of improving outcomes for all students. Before joining ISBE, she was an administrator in Woodstock for one year and taught middle school science for five and a half years prior to that. Ms. Maher has a master’s degree in educational leadership from Aurora University and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with endorsements in math, science, and middle school from Eastern Illinois University.

Collin McCormick - Assistant Director of Transportation, Transportation Joint Agreement (TJA)
Prior to joining District 47, Mr. McCormick was a bus driver in Woodstock District 200 for six years, where he was also a dispatch operator and trainer for new drivers. In that capacity, he handled routing, payroll management and billing. In 2015 he became a state instructor and worked with bus drivers throughout McHenry County. Prior to moving to Illinois in 2010, Mr. McCormick drove a bus for Student Transit in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.


Jodie Moss - Principal, Indian Prairie Elementary

Moss served as Principal at East Elementary in Zion for the past eight years. Before that, she was an assistant principal at Leggee Elementary in Huntley. She began her career as a first grade teacher in North Chicago before serving as a reading teacher and reading coach in Lake Forest and Grayslake. Mrs. Moss holds a bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College, a master’s degree from National St. Louis University, and her administrative certification from Dominican University. She is a certified Reading Recovery teacher and has an English as a Second Language endorsement.


David Tomczyk - Operations Manager

David Tomczyk served as Facility Manager for Del Webb Sun City Community Association of Huntley for the past year and a half. Prior to that, he spent eight and a half years in the park and recreation industry, where he managed carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, janitorial, reservation, set up/tear down and capital projects. Mr. Tomczyk has an associate's degree from Elgin Community College, an honors certificate in entrepreneurship, and has completed numerous green initiative projects to reduce greenhouse gases.
