New District 47 Website to Launch August 7

Revamped website aims to become primary source of information and enhance communication with parents and community.

Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 is excited to unveil its new website, which will include the District site and 12 building sites as part of the initial rollout, and new teacher sites in a secondary phase. The new site features a robust, responsive design; an updated look and feel; and improvements in organization and navigation.

According to Denise Barr, coordinator of community relations, the goal of the new-and-improved website is to become the primary source of information about the District for parents, students, staff, and community members. Barr says she hopes visitors will find the site more user-friendly and engaging through updated and reorganized content, improved navigation, and the use of photos and video.

“As a progressive school district and leaders in technology, we look forward to hosting a website that is easier to navigate, more engaging and better reflects who we are,” said Barr.

The new website will feature a responsive design format and a downloadable app (to be launched mid-year) to effectively deliver information that can be easily accessed on mobile devices, including tablets and smart phones. Barr says both of these enhancements will make it easier for busy families to stay connected to the District and their child’s school while on-the-go. In addition, the responsive design and app will offer families without home Internet access but with mobile devices a new way to connect with their child’s school.

Other new features include a searchable staff directory and the ability to create a personalized “dashboard” of content upon registration. Barr says that once teacher sites launch (most likely later this school year), the dashboard will allow parents to customize the content they view, such as their child’s school calendars and homework assignments, and to sign up to receive important updates from their child’s school.

In conjunction with the new website launch, the District is rebranding as Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 and has updated its logos to reinforce its mission of “educational excellence for all students.” The new logos create uniformity among the District’s schools and carry a collegiate flair, reflecting the District’s goal of preparing students for next steps--high school, college and careers, and beyond.
