CRYSTAL LAKE, IL -- Minnie Bird, a fast-casual restaurant known for its friend chicken, dirty sodas and free soft-served ice cream with every meal, is coming to Crystal Lake.

Signage up at the former Freddy's Steakburgers, at 5500 Northwest Highway, announced Minnie Bird's anticipated entrance to the Route 14 corridor. The new Minnie Bird will be located next to Crumbl once it opens.

Currently, there are three other Minnie Bird restaurants in Illinois, including its original location in Schaumburg, which opened nearly two years ago. A second location opened in Oak Brook in October 2025 followed by a third Minnie Bird in Naperville in February, according to media reports.
