Northwest Suburban Native, Teammate Win 'The Amazing Race'

A 2008 Barrington High School graduate and her teammate claimed a $1 million prize Friday after winning the 25th season of “The Amazing Race,” a CBS reality TV show, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Amy DeJong, a 2008 graduate of Barrington High School, and her teammate, Maya Warren, of the St. Louis area, beat three teams following a 26,000-mile trek through eight countries, according to the newspaper. The two are doctorate students in food science at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Dubbed the “Sweet Scientists,” the duo were considered underdogs going into the final round but were able to pull ahead of their competition to win, the Chicago Tribune reports.
