Pablo's Crystal Lake To Serve Free Christmas Meals To The Needy

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Pablo's Mexican Restaurant in Crystal Lake will be switching things up this year, as they plan to open for a few hours to serve free meals to the less fortunate people in the area.

The owners of Pablo's, which has been around for 31 years, the Northwest Herald reported, have family members that have moved away, so they're giving their time and food to folks in the area who may need a merry Christmas.

Owners Jennifer and Fred Falbo were discussing Christmas plans. “I said, ‘How about we cook and have less fortunate people come in for a Christmas meal?’ ” Jennifer said. “He started crying – my manly man husband.”

From 2 to 4 p.m. Christmas day, they'll open up to serve homeless veterans, single parents and families who are unable to provide a meal. The Herald reported they'll stay open past 4 p.m. if they have food and people to serve.

People dining at Pablo's on Christmas can expect a full meal with ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, green bean casserole and treats. “We’re not going to turn anyone away,” Jennifer Falbo said.

“We just want to feed people, give back and make people happy,” Jennifer Falbo said. “No judgments – we just wanted to give people time to enjoy Christmas dinner.”

Pablo's will be accepting donations of toys for kids, along with hats, socks and gloves to help keep the less fortunate warm this brisk winter. Pablo's can wrap the gifts.
