Park District Requests Parents Assistance with Woodscreek Crystal Lake Splash Pad Issue
Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
We know that kids LOVE to play in the dirt and mix it with water, but
the combination has become a huge maintenance problem at Crystal Castle
Splash Pad at Woodscreek Park. Kids of all ages are digging dirt and
rocks from the surrounding flower beds and putting it in the rock
drainage way. The drain then becomes clogged, causing water to back up,
which has the potential of damaging the equipment and surrounding area.
The park district does not have the resources to staff the
area full time with "guards" or to clean the drain out multiple times a
day. We DO NOT want to close the splash pad so PLEASE keep your
children from clogging the system. We love seeing kids play in and
around the drainage way - we just ask that the area be treated with
respect so that the splash pad can remain open for all to enjoy. Our
splash pads are free fun for kids of all ages and we want to keep it
that way! Thank you!
