Pedestrian Critically Injured In Hit And Run; 1 In Custody

The Woodstock man was taken by helicopter to a suburban hospital early Sunday. A 22-year-old man is in custody for the hit and run.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL - A 22-year-old Wonder Lake man has been arrested for allegedly hitting a pedestrian along a roadway near McHenry and then fleeing the scene early Sunday, police said. The pedestrian, a 48-year-old Woodstock man, was taken to Condell Medical Center by a Flight for Life helicopter following the crash. The man, whose name is not yet being released, remained at the hopsital in stable but critical condition, authorities said Sunday afternoon.

A preliminary investigation shows the crash occurred at 2:23 a.m. Sunday when a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu sedan heading south on Lincoln Road near Emily Lane in unincorporated McHenry struck the pedestrian who had been near the edge of the roadway, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The Malibu fled the scene. Deputies were able to track down the driver, who they identified as Alexsandro J. Tacket, 22, of Wonder Lake, police said.

Tacket was not injured and was taken into custody. He has been charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident and failure to report an injury accident, police said.

Tacket is expected in court Monday morning.

The crash on Lincoln Road closed the roadway for over five hours Sunday morning as authorities investigated the incident.
