Planet Fitness is Opening First McHenry Co. Location in Crystal Lake

 Planet Fitness, a 24-hour gym, is expected to open its first McHenry County location in Crystal Lake next spring, according to the Northwest Herald. The gym will be located in a 20,000-square-foot space next to the recently-opened Fresh Thyme Farmers Market in Route 14.

Route 14 has seen a boost in business openings this past year with Fresh Thyme opening in the former Dominick’s building and Burlington opening in the former Marshall’s and Toys R Us, according to the article.

“Businesses and investors are continuing to see the growth potential in Crystal Lake, and we are looking forward to Planet Fitness opening early next year,” Planning and Economic Development Manager James Richter told the Northwest Herald. “They are a great addition to the Route 14 corridor.”

Planet Fitness offers two different membership types: one is available for $10 per month and another is $19.99 per month. The cheaper option allows members unlimited access to a home club and unlimited fitness training. The more expensive option gives members unlimited access to other Planet Fitness locations, use of tanning, massage chairs and other benefits.

Planet Fitness has several locations in the Chicago suburbs including gyms in: Elgin, Bloomingdale, St. Charles, Des Plaines, Addison, Aurora, Naperville and Morton Grove.
