WOODSTOCK, IL — It's not every day a police chief comes to the rescue of a snapping turtle. But Woodstock Police Department Chief John Lieb did last week when he saw a "poor little snapper" trying to cross a road in Lakewood, according to a post on the Woodstock Police Department Facebook page.

Lieb was headed back from a meeting with Deputy Chief Jeff Parsons and Deputy Chief Ray Lanz when they group decided to pull over to help the turtle. Lieb put on gloves and carefully picked up the angry turtle.

"Come on buddy," he said as he rushed him off the roadway.
