Police Investigate Rumors of Violent Threat at Crystal Lake South

Police have determined the threat was not valid.

The Crystal Lake Police Department investigated reports of threats of violence at Crystal Lake South High School last week.

After conducting several interviews, authorities determined the threats were not valid, Crystal Lake Principal Scott Shepherd said in a note to students and parents on Monday. The police department along with administrators at the school "took immediate action" to ensure the safety of students and staff at the school after learning of the rumors on April 10, Shepherd said.

"Safety is our top priority, and we take all rumor of threats seriously," Shepherd said. "If any valid threat is made, we will work with the Crystal Lake Police Department to increase security at our building."
