Police Respond After Person Climbs Tower; School Buses Rerouted: Police
Negotiators are communicating with the person near Hancock Drive and East Wonder Lake Road in Wonder Lake, officials said.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to avoid an area in Wonder Lake because of police activity in the area Wednesday afternoon.
The incident is near Hancock Drive and East Wonder Lake Road, according to village officials.
Village President Dan Dycus said a person who had made suicidal statements climbed a tower, and three negotiators were communicating with the person, Shaw Local is reporting. The sheriff’s office and Wonder Lake Police Department are leading the response, while the Wonder Lake Fire Protection District and other agencies are also at the scene.

Meanwhile, Harrison School officials said the school was aware of the situation and that buses would be rerouted as needed and likely delayed Wednesday afternoon, according to Shaw Local.
