Police Work to ID 1 Killed in McHenry Co. Crash

The single-vehicle crash happened early Sunday on Lamb Road north of Woodstock.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL - Authorities are investigating the cause of a crash and also trying to identify one person who was killed when a car collided with a tree on Lamb Road north of Woodstock early Sunday. The Woodstock Fire Protection District and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene of the single-vehicle crash in the 1500 block of Lamb Road in unincorporated Hartland Township at about 3:40 a.m. on May 7, according to a news release.

A preliminary investigation indicated a car traveling south on Lamb Road left the roadway while navigating a curve. The car collided with a tree and caught fire, according to authorities.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor. Due to the damage to the vehicle, it was also not readily apparent if airbags deployed or if a seat belt was used, police said.

Identification of the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and the circumstances of the crash are under investigation by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Major Crash Investigation Unit.
