Probe Underway After Death Of 8-Year-Old Boy In McHenry County
The child was transported from Crystal Lake to a suburban hospital where he was pronounced dead on Saturday, according to officials.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — McHenry County officials are investigating the death of an 8-year-old boy who was pronounced dead at suburban hospital last week.
McHenry County Coroner Dr. Michael Rein said the McHenry County Coroner’s Office was notified by Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital at about 11 a.m. on Saturday regarding the child’s death.
The boy had been transported from Crystal Lake prior to being pronounced dead at the hospital, according to a news release from the coroner's office.

An autopsy was completed on Tuesday, according to the coroner's office. Officials said toxicology testing is still pending, and the cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.
The coroner’s office said it is continuing to work in coordination with the Crystal Lake Police Department and Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital as part of the ongoing investigation.
