Public Input Sought on ADA Transition Plan
McHenry County DOT is aiming to make all 550 of its lane miles compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
MCDOT:The McHenry County Division of Transportation is seeking public input onits plan to eventually make all of its 550 lane miles compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Its ADA Transition Plan will examine all elements in the public right-of-way that pose challenges to people with accessibility issues, such as sidewalks, paths, crosswalks, curb ramps, detectable warning devices, as well as traffic and pedestrian signals. To submit a comment online, visit the MCDOT website at www.mchenrycountydot.org, click on “ADA” on the upper left side of the page, and then click on “Public Participation.” People wishing to mail in their comments can print a hard copy of the comment form and mail it to the McHenry County Division of Transportation, 16111 Nelson Road, Woodstock, IL 60098.
MCDOT anticipates having the ADA Transition Plan’s final draft finished by early 2020, with County Board approval to follow. The plan is being funded through a Statewide Planning and Research grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation. Please keep in mind that MCDOT only has jurisdiction over county highways, and only can act on county roads or on intersections crossing county roads.
