Residents Displaced Following Apartment Fire In McHenry
One resident was taken to the hospital following the fire, which broke out early Tuesday in the 1900 block of N. Orleans Street

MCHENRY, IL — Several residents have been displaced after a blaze broke out at an apartment in McHenry early Tuesday.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded to the fire at a two-story apartment building in the 1900 block of N. Orleans Street in McHenry at about 3:40 a.m. When fire crews arrived the blaze had spread to the second floor and attic space of the building, which has eight units.
All residents were able to safely get out of the building. One person was taken to the hospital in good condition, another was evaluated and then released at the scene and a firefighter was evaluated but not transported to a hospital, according to a news release.

The building sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage and is not habitable. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents of all eight units in finding house, authorities said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and a damage estimate is not immediately available.
