Richmond Woman Seriously Injured in Crash Near Woodstock
An Arlington Heights man was also seriously injured in the two-vehicle crash.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL - a 67-year-old Richmond woman and a 65-year-old Arlington Heights man were seriously injured in an crash near Woodstock early Tuesday.
The two-vehicle crash happened at Route 14 and Hughes Road in unincorporated Woodstock at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. A preliminary investigation shows a 2005 Dodge Caravan traveling north on Hughes Road failed to yield the right of way at the intersection of Route 14 and was struck by a 2009 Volvo semi, which was traveling west on Route 14.
The driver and sole occupant of the Dodge, Cathleen Holtz, 67, of Richmond, was transported by ambulance to Centegra-McHenry Hospital with serious injuries following the crash. She was later transported by ambulance to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The driver and sole occupant, of the Volvo, Gerald Grapenthien, 65, of Arlington Heights, was transported by ambulance to Centegra-McHenry Hospital with serious injuries.
Alcohol is not suspected as playing a role in the crash. No airbags were deployed in the Dodge or the Volvo and both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

An investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigations Unit and the Illinois State Police.
