Round Lake Toddler Killed In Double Fatality On Route 41
A 73-year-old Wilmette woman also died in the collision, which happened Saturday afternoon in Highland Park.
HIGHLAND PARK, IL — A 21-month-old Round Lake boy was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Route 41 in Highland Park that also left a 73-year-old Wilmette woman dead, authorities said.
The crash happened at about 3 p.m. on Saturday at Route 41 and Park Avenue West, where the Highland Park Police Department and Highland Park Fire Department responded to reports of a serious collision with injuries, according to a news release from the coroner's office.
Investigators said a 2026 Hyundai Sonata traveling north on Skokie Valley Road hit a 2006 Toyota Sienna, which was driven by the Wilmette woman, that was turning onto the roadway from westbound Park Avenue West. The child, identified as 21-month-old Andre Paz of Round Lake, was in a car seat in the Hyundai at the time of the crash, according to the coroner's office.

Both the toddler and the Toyota’s driver, 73-year-old Joan Scaccia of Wilmette, were transported to Highland Park Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead, officials said.
An additional person was injured in the collision, according to media reports.
