Sandra Thompson Honored with Prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from American Camp Association-Illinois
Celebrating 40+ Years with the Crystal Lake Park District

The Crystal Lake Park District is proud to announce that Recreation Supervisor Sandra Thompson, who oversees the District’s Summer Day Camp and Extended Time programs, has been named the recipient of the American Camp Association-Illinois (ACA-Illinois) Susan E. Rochlis Award for Lifetime Achievement.
This distinguished honor represents the pinnacle of recognition within ACA-Illinois and the broader camp community. The award carries rigorous criteria, requiring a minimum of 30 years of leadership and service to ACA-Illinois and at least 25 years of dedication to the camp profession. Thompson’s selection highlights a career defined by unwavering commitment, exceptional leadership, and a profound impact on generations of campers, families, and colleagues.
Throughout her tenure with the Crystal Lake Park District, Thompson has played a vital role in shaping high-quality, engaging, and inclusive camp experiences.
