When it comes to pulling their weight in the fight against hunger in Crystal Lake, Cub Scout Pack 127 and Boy Scout Troop 127 aim to collect more than one ton of donations on Saturday, March 7th. Cub Scouts distributed paper collection bags last Saturday and the Boy Scouts make a return trip this Saturday to gather donations left on door steps with our colorful yellow banner.

Scouting for Food is an annual national event. In Crystal Lake, Pack 127 and Troop 127 have distributed collection bags (see photo) to single family homes in a 1 mile radius of St. Thomas the Apostle Church at Terra Cotta Ave. and Oak Street. Previous efforts have garnered up to 2400 pounds and this year they want to crash through that level of generosity.

If you live in the area around St. Thomas and got one of the grocery bags, please leave out by 8am Saturday morning. Other Girl and Boy Scout troops are participating. If you know a scout, help them out. If you live outside our 1 mile collection area, donations can be dropped off Saturday morning from 9am to 12 noon at the St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
