Sculpture Of Cary's Founder Coming To Jaycee Park

The sculpture will be unveiled on May 20.

CRYSTAL LAKE-CARY, IL - From Bellaver Studios: Guy J. Bellaver’s sculpture of the bust of William Dennison Cary, the Founder of Cary, Illinois, will be unveiled and dedicated in Cary’s Jaycee Park on Sunday, May 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The dedication is the culmination of the effort to have a piece of public art in the village that honors Cary’s founder. The sculpture is a Project of the Cary-Grove Historical Society, in collaboration with the Cary, Illinois Park District, Sculpture/Guy J. Bellaver, and Ringers Landscaping, Fox River Grove, IL. Jaycee Park is located at the corner of Three Oaks and Cary-Algonquin Roads, across from Coil Craft.

Pam Losey, President of the Cary-Grove Historical Society said, “The Cary Grove Historical Society has always been passionate about their mission statement to preserve, protect and present the history of the Cary Fox River Grove area, and the William D. Cary event is our latest project towards achieving this goal!”

Bellaver said, “I was pleased and proud to have been chosen for this commission by the Historical Society. It’s always a challenge to create a sculpture from a photo, especially a daguerreotype, but I enjoyed the challenge, and the opportunity to work with Pam [Losey], the Park District, and the folks at Ringers. Everyone was extremely helpful and excited about this addition to their community, and that always makes a public art project particularly rewarding.”
