Search For Missing McHenry Man Enters Day 3

MCHENRY, IL — Authorities are asking for the public's help to locate a missing McHenry man.

The family of Gustavo Guzman-Perez called the McHenry Police Department during the late afternoon hours on Saturday to report the 28-year-old man was missing, according to a news release. Police say Guzman-Perez was last seen at about 2 a.m. on Saturday near a home in the 3000 block of West Virginia Avenue in McHenry.

Since then, an active search has been underway to try and locate Guzman-Perez, authorities said.

On Sunday, about 6o volunteers trained in search and rescue, an aerial drone and police dogs were used to search an area covering 665 acres in and around the McHenry Country Club. Meanwhile, a McHenry Township Fire Protection District boat was used to search the Fox River from Route 120 to the McHenry Dam area, according to a news release.

Gustavo-Perez was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored — navy or black — Nike brand hooded sweatshirt. He is 5-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Authorities say there is no reason to suspect foul play is a factor in Gustavo-Perez’s disappearance and is asking anyone who has information or knows where Guzman-Perez is to call the McHenry Police Department at 815-363-2200 or its criminal investigation division at 815-363-2599.
