Search Underway For Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child

A man allegedly fled a home in Hebron Friday morning after family members confronted him about sexually assaulting a child.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – The search is on for a 26-year-old Hebron man accused of sexually assaulting a child at a home in rural McHenry County. Authorities responded to the residence in the 12000 block of Hebron Road in unincorporated Hebron at about 6:45 a.m. Friday for a reported child sex assault. Family members at the home confronted the man, Esau Ancheyta Hernandez, who they said sexually assaulted a child at the home.

Hernandez then fled the scene on foot.

Authorities launched a large mult-jurisdictional search and used K-9s, drones and a helicopter to try and track Hernandez down, police said. The search was conducted in the Hebron area and along the Illinois/Wisconsin state line.

Hernandez was not located. He is described as being 5-feet 6-inches tall and weighing 135 pounds. He has dark brown hair and brown eyes.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest on a charge of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a class X felony. Bond has been set at $250,000.
