Secret Service Sends Deputies To Marengo Airport After Airspace Violation: Report

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The U.S. Secret Service asked McHenry County sheriff’s deputies to respond to a private airport near Marengo Sunday after a small plane reportedly entered restricted airspace during President Donald Trump’s visit to the Chicago area.

Deputies were sent around 2:10 p.m. to Hilbert Airport in unincorporated Marengo after the Secret Service reported that a small civilian aircraft had entered the temporary flight restriction without authorization, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner is reporting.

The restriction was in place while Trump attended the final day of the Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club, and NORAD reported at least 15 general aviation aircraft violatedrestricted Chicago-area airspace Sunday, with fighter jets intercepting 10 of them, according to Lake & McHenry County Scanner. Deputies cleared the call around 3:35 p.m. after the Secret Service said no further assistance was needed, and it remained unclear whether the pilot was questioned or faced enforcement action.
