Severe Weather Possible This Afternoon, Evening

Heavy rain, hail and damaging winds is possible today for much of the suburbs.

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Lake, McHenry, DuPage, Cook and Kane counties through Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Storms are expected to developed Sunday afternoon and increase in coverage into the evening while gradually shifting to the south, according to the National Weather Service.

The thunderstorms could be capable of very heavy rainfall with possible flash flooding, damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph and quarter-sized hail.

Rain rates of 1 to 2 inches of rain per hour is possible during the storm.
