MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A McHenry County sex offender has been sentenced to prison after he failed to register his address with authorities. Daniel L. Roy, 40, of Island Lake will spend three years in prison after he was found guilty of failure to register as a sex offender, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

The Crystal Lake Police Department conducted a compliance check of the address Roy used after registering as a sex offender, according to authorities. They learned he was not living at the residence but was instead living at a "prohibited address that was located near a park," police said.

The case was investigated by the Crystal Lake Police Department and the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.
