WEST DUNDEE, IL — Area residents are rallying and raising funds to keep The Chubby Bullfrog open. Unless there is a "serious miracle," owners Mike and Meagan Morrison announced in recent days they'd have to soon shut down their business, which is inside the Spring Hill Mall in located at the Spring Hills Mall in West Dundee.

The popular restaurant, known for its great food and live music, has only brought in 15 percent of its typical sales over the past two months, compared to the revenue normally generated during the same time frame over the last two years, Mike Morrison said in a statement last week. Curbside pickup and delivery has not been enough, he said.

A fundraiser started on Facebook has brought in nearly $20,000. And those who want to see the Bullfrog still in business in the coming months are calling on officials at Spring Hill Mall to allow picnic tables to be placed in the parking lot outside the business to allow for outdoor seating.

Supporters of the #savethefrog initiative are asking people to contact Spring Hill Mall and "request that they support this local restaurant by allowing the use of their huge empty parking lot for outdoor seating," according to a Facebook post.
