Awarded to John Fiorina Manager of Nature Center and Natural Resources

For Immediate Release: The Silver Beaver Award is the highest Honor the Blackhawk Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, can bestow upon a volunteer Scouter in recognition of distinguished service to youth.

On the unit level, John is a member of Pack 367 and Troop 163. In the Pack, John has been a Webelos Den leader and is currently the Cubmaster. Each month John takes the lead organizing 2 to 3 events, hosting monthly pack meetings, and organizing the Pine Wood Derby and annual Blue and gold Banquet. Within Troop 153, John is an Assistant Scoutmaster providing leadership and guidance to the boys planning their monthly outings.

John is an active supporter and participant in nearly all district events and is known by many throughout the district. John has been worked on many committees including: the District Training Committee, District Dinners, F.O. S presenter, Klondike, Eagle College, Woods of Webelos, and day camp programs in Sycamore. John is Wood Badge trained and holds a Level 1 Climbing instructor certification. John is on the Environmental committee for the council and serves as a Hornaday Award advisor, and shares his knowledge with scouts for Next Step and Powder Horn.

Outside of scouting, John is very active in his church, Grace Lutheran Church, serving as a skit leader, Sunday School substitute teacher, greeter and communion server. John has been a member of the Crystal Lake Clean Up Committee (2008-2016), McHenry County Conservation Congress (2015), McHenry County Defenders (2010-2016), Friends of the Fox (2010-2016), and Park District Steering Committee (2016).

John and his wife Carrie live in the Sycamore district and have 3 boys in scouting, Evan, Owen, and Sean.
