Slippery Roadways Causing Crashes in Lake, McHenry Counties: Police
Police are urging commuters to drive with caution this morning as roads are slick.

Icy roads are causing headaches and crashes during this morning’s commute.
Police have reported several crashes in Lake and McHenry counties, including in Volo, Grayslake, Kildeer and Third Lake, the Daily Herald reports.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office sent out a Nixle alert this morning urging drivers to use extreme caution during their commute and to “expect roadways to be ice covered.”

“During the overnight hours, all surfaces not treated with salt have accumulated ice,” according to the alert.
The Northwest Herald is reporting emergency crews were called Route 176 and Valley View Road near Prairie Grove around 6 a.m. for a truck that ran into a pole and were dispatched to Route 47 near Talamore in Huntley for a report of semitrailer that hit a vehicle around 6:20 a.m.
