Storm Wreaks Havoc on Crystal Lake
At least two roadways in Crystal Lake closed Wednesday afternoon due to flooding. Clean up continues Thursday.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - Public works crews will be out in full force on Thursday to clear downed branches and trees in Crystal Lake following Wednesday's storm. About 2.5 inches of rain fell within an hour in the city, causing flooding and road closures. In addition, two homes sustained minor damage from trees and branches, according to city officials.
No injuries have been reported from Wednesday's storm, according to a news release from the city of Crystal Lake.
ComEd is dealing with downed wires in the area and hundreds were reportedly without power as of late Wednesday night. Public works crews will continue to address flooding and work to clear downed trees and debris from roadways.

On Wednesday afternoon, flooding closed Route 176 west of Walkup Avenue and Keith Avenue at Route 14. Both roads have since reopened.

A flood warning is in effect until 11:45 p.m. Wednesday for southern McHenry County. In Crystal Lake, water was reportedly covering a good portion of car tires on area roads. The national Weather Service is reporting a total of two to 4.5 inches of rainfall for the area.
Locations that are expected to experience flooding include Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, Marengo. Woodstock, Crystal Lake, Cary, Bull Valley, Prairie Grove, Lakewood, Huntley and Hampshire.
