Student Fees Vary by Area School Districts

So just how much are school fees in the area? Patch gathered information for local school districts, from both the districts' websites and from district representatives.

Here's a look at what various districts charge for fees:

Elementary School Fees

Student registration fees for District 26 students is as follows: early childhood education for the half-day program, $84; full-day ECE program, $126; half-day kindergarten, $136; full-day kindergarten program, $167; all-day kindergarten, $573; grades one through five, $188; grade six, $213; and grades seven and eight, $218.

The cost of full-day kindergarten within District 47 is $1350.  In addition, there is a book rental fee required for students, which is $40 for kindergarten students, $50 for preschool students, $60 for grades one through five and $75 for grades six through eight. For more information on registration, vis the District 47 website.

High School Fees

District 155 students pay a registration fee of $155, which includes the cost of  “textbook rental, workbooks, paperbacks, lab, and other course supplies, school newspaper, and a student identification card.” The cost also includes a physical education uniform and lock for freshmen and other new students, according to the D155 website.

Additional costs for high school students, such as Behind-the-Wheel Driver’s Education, will cost parents $100 and a parking permit is $100 for all District 155 schools. District 155 does not charge an athletic participation fee.

Neighboring School Districts

In District 300, the fees start out at $90 for pre-kindergarten and $100 for half-day kindergarten. Full-day kindergarten costs start at $250. Grades one through five are $115, while the fees for grades sixth and eighth are $125. These fees do not include additional costs, such as, fees for physical education locks, shirts and athletic participation fees. A full list of fees is available on the District 300 website.

For District 158 students, registration is $112 for pre-school programs. Half-day kindergarten registration costs $167 while full-day kindergarten registration fees are $217. Parents will pay $173 in registration fees for their children in first through fifth grades and $218 for registration for sixth through eighth grades.
