Student Seriously Injured In MCC Machining Class Files Lawsuit

The complaint alleges a machine component struck a student during a training exercise at the Crystal Lake campus.

A McHenry County College student who was seriously injured during a machining class has filed a lawsuit alleging negligence against the college and a machine manufacturer, according to court records.

The lawsuit claims the student was struck in the face by a machine component during a precision machining course at the Crystal Lake campus on Nov. 3, 2025. He was airlifted to a trauma center with serious injuries following the incident, according to filings, according to Shaw Local.

The complaint alleges the college failed to maintain a safe learning environment and that the equipment involved was defective or improperly maintained, according to the article.
